Above pictured left: DOCK GATE CAISSON AT LIVERPOOL. Site assembly of a sliding caisson at Gladstone Dock, Liverpool for the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board.  At this time, this was the largest caisson in Europe and the company's design was selected in open competition.  The total weight of this all-riveted structure was 1,000 tons.
